Men of Service FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions
What does Men of Service provide?
When you submit your request, a volunteer Project Leader will schedule a time to visit with you at your home two weeks before your service day. At that time, they will be able to determine what we can assist you with. Unfortunately, we cannot provide services that require licensed trade workers like large-scale infrastructure, plumbing, electrical, moving, or HVAC work, but we would be glad to redirect you.
On the day scheduled for your requests, a team of volunteers will be available at your home from 8 am to 12 pm.
Do you have to be a member of Capital Church?
Capital Men of Service seeks to support widows/widowers, single mothers, and the elderly in our church family. If you feel like you fit in these categories then we encourage you to submit a request!
Can they do more than one project?
Can Men of Service help if I am in a rental property?
When your project is assigned to one of our Project Leaders, he will schedule a time to visit your home. During that time, the Project Leader will review the task list and determine what Capital Men of Service volunteers will be able to complete versus items that need to be referred to a certified/licensed trade.
How quickly can the Capital Men of Service team complete my project?
Our Men of Service team works on the 3rd Saturday of every month. If your need is pressing then we will do what we can to be available on the next service Saturday.
Is there a limited on how often the Men of Service team can come to my home?
Depending on the number of requests we receive, we are usually able to visit one time per year; however, we may be able to assist another time if we have the availability!
Why is there a need to have more than one person in my home?
Do the men have background checks?
Yes. Capital Church completes a background check on the volunteers that serve on our Men of Service team.
